General Conditions

You must have the financial resources to cover the expenses of an additional person under your roof (full board, pocket money, health insurance 🩺, etc.).

💶 The amount of the pocket money is €3 per hour.

The au pair program is a cultural exchange between the au pair and your family. The young student goes abroad 🌍 to learn the language and to visit the country. That’s why you must speak French at home, or at least with the au pair. ⚠️ Moreover, it is certain the integration of the au pair within the family is important for the good progress of the stay.

The bedroom you must provide must be at least 9 square meters with a window facing outside. Moreover, the room must be furnished with the necessary furniture 🛏️.

⚠️ The au pair cannot share the room with your children, only the bathroom.

If you don’t have an extra room, you can provide him/her with external accommodation to your house 🏡 or flat. This can be an annex, a maid’s room, a caravan, etc. Keep in mind, the au pair has to be aware about it.

🦋 Advice : We recommend providing a room part of the same place the family lives in, in line with the program’s values 👍.

Contract

It is necessary to establish a contract 📑 between the au pair and you in order to define the framework of the stay. This includes the obligations of the parties, the services due, the working hours, the remuneration, the duration of the stay, etc. We can write the agreement according to the package you chose.

The reception of an au pair is possible from 1 month to 1 year, with the possibility to renew the contract once.

Work and free time

Depending on their nationality, au pairs work 25 hours a week for a non-European and 30 hours for a European. You must give him/her at least one day off per week, preferably fixed, as well as one full weekend in the month.

📅 For holidays, the au pair has the right to have 1 full and paid rest week every 3 months.

You have to give your au pair some free time so that he/she has enough time to visit the country, do activities, attend her language classes, etc.

🦋 Advice : We recommend to talk about the future schedule with your au pair beforehand, to include it in the contract.

On your profile, in your dashboard, you have access to all the tasks that your future au pair will be able to perform as part of his/her contract with you. Check only the ones you want the au pair to do. ⚠️ An au pair is neither a childcare professional, nor a housekeeper 🧹. His/her tasks must be related to your children (tidying up their room, preparing their breakfast, etc.) or to daily family life, for example taking out the rubbish or emptying the dishwasher.

Actually, the au pair is a complementary form of care for the child. It cannot be the main form of care 👶. The child must be in a professional childcare facility (nursery school, kindergarten, etc.) and the au pair complements this type of care.
